All our staff are pet owners, pet lovers, and are dedicated to providing an exceptional experience for you and your pet.
Continual training and monthly staff meetings keep the staff focused on client service, updates in medicine and diagnostics, and new products. The staff is continually challenging themselves and other team members to improve daily procedures, quality of care, record keeping, and devotion to animal comfort and well-being.
Victoria Bannerman, DVM
Vicki is an east coast transplant having moved here from Annapolis, MD., where she helped manage a clinic for 4 years. She is originally from Atlanta, GA., where she grew up and learned to speak fluent “southern.” She graduated from the University of Georgia School of Veterinary Medicine in 1987 (how ’bout them dawgs’). Although Dr. Bannerman enjoys all phases of the veterinary profession, her specialties are veterinary geriatrics and pain management. She is a certified Veterinary Acupuncturist. Her hobbies include theater arts, scuba diving,international travel, and singing. She is an active member of Sweet Adelines International. She lives in the Santa Cruz mountains with her husband, three children and multiple pets.
Vicki is co-owner of the Adobe Animal Hospital of Soquel and manages the small animal practice.
Marc Gherardi, DVM
Marc is a graduate of University of California — Davis. He completed his internship at the Sacramento Animal Medical Group, then started practicing veterinary medicine in the San Francisco Bay area before joining the team in Santa Cruz. In addition to his work with Animal Hospital of Soquel, Dr. Gherardi consults on a volunteer basis at the Long Marine Laboratory in Santa Cruz.
Cristina Topper, DVM
Cristina is a native of San Francisco and obtained her undergraduate and doctorate degrees from UC Davis. She joined the Adobe Animal Hospital of Soquel with extensive experience in Emergency Medicine. She came to us from Pacific Veterinary Emergency Clinic. She performed her internship at a specialty hospital in Los Angeles. As a general practitioner her interests include dentistry and dermatology.
In her free time, Cristina enjoys eating, shopping and exotic travel to Las Vegas. When she is home, Cristina spends way too much time with her cats. Although Cristina says she has no hobbies, she would love to learn surfing if it were not for the fact that she can’t swim.
Melissa Gangloff – Office Manager
Melissa has worked with us for the past 6 years, starting as the front desk supervisor and advancing to her current position as office manager and she is currently completing her AAHA Certified Office Manager certification. She is also as certified Medical Assistant. Her extensive experience in the medical field maker her the perfect addition to our Adobe team.
Anneke Wassink – Registered Veterinary Technician
Anneke began working as a Veterinary Assistant in 1988 after a long career in the human nursing field. She graduated from Hartnell College in 1996 as a Registered Veterinary Technician. She works in all fields of our hospital and assists the doctor as needed to attend to our furry patients and their companions.”I switched careers from the human medical field I had chosen in my younger years because, to me, there is nothing better than to come together with the animals needing care; to touch their spirit; to love their being; to be understanding and become one with their fears and joys. Many lovely four-footed friends have shared my home and at this time I am graced to share my life with seven dear cats.”
Brynne Hoberg – Registered Veterinary Technician
Brynne has been a resident of Santa Cruz since 1972. She raised her family here and has had cats, dogs, and horses in her life for many years as well. Brynne graduated from Hartnell Community College 8 years ago and received her Registered Veterinary Technician’s license. Following that, she went to the Canine Rehabilitation Institute in Florida and received her certification in caninine rehabilitation in 2007. “I feel very fortunate to live in such a beautiful community and grateful for all the wonderful animals in my life.”
Regina Gangloff – Receptionist
Regina has worked at Adobe Animal Hospital for the last five years and has begun her AAHA Veterinary Hospital Manager certification. You can often see her little Boston Terrier, Dottie, sitting with her behind the reception desk. Born and raised in Santa Cruz, Regina enjoys pet sitting for some of our Adobe clients and hiking with her dogs, Dottie and Bishop. Regina is also a passionate violinist.
Lisa Peck – Accounts Manager
Lisa moved to California from Schenectady, NY in 1994. She moved from San Jose to Aptos in 1999, where she was working for a local non profit. She began working at Adobe in 2014. She and her husband, Rodney are devoted cat parents, and they share their home with many kitties, making this the purrfect place for her to work.
Nancy Espino – Technician Assistant
Nancy was born and raised in Santa Cruz. Hoping to pursue a career in veterinary meidicine, Nancy began taking a Regional Occupational Program for veterinary medicine at Harbor High School. Nancy complete her excternship here at Adobe and became a full time employee after graduation. Nancy enjoys watching movies and hanging out with her cat, Smokey.
Diana Ponce – Veterinary Assistant
Diana is thrilled to be back working with the patients at the Adobe Animal Hospital of Soquel. She was a technician with us for several years, and then she took a brief hiatus to study to become a pharmacy technician. It did not take her long to realize that her heart and talents are with the animals, so she came back home. She is currently working towards becoming a Registered Veterinary Technician. Diana lives in the Santa Cruz area with her husband, dog and 2 cats. In her spare time, she is training her dog, BB, to be the best darn dog ever.
Tony Martin Operations Manager
Tony is a professional technology consultant and our resident computer nerd. If you call the clinic and hear a guy answer the phone, don’t worry– you haven’t gotten a wrong number because he has also joined our front desk staff part-time. Tony, his husband Ken, and his black Lab Lola have been clients for many years and he loves interacting with all the furry patients who come into the clinic. After spending decades in the software industry, he is finding a new passion being around so much “Pawsitive” energy!
Janee Moore Veterinary Assistant
Janee has been working as a veterinary assistant since 2013. She has explored multiple areas of veterinary medicine, including dentistry, internal medicine, and emergency, but was drawn back to general practice due to her love of bonding with both her four legged and two legged clients! Janee has a special interest in behavioural medicine and loves to ensure that her Adobe patients are as relaxed and comfortable as possible. In her spare time, Janee enjoys running, hiking, and spending time with her dogs and cats.
Leslie Miller Veterinary Assistant
Leslie is originally from Canada and has been living in the United States for the last six years. Her and her husband started off in New Jersey and then moved to California about four years ago and now they reside in Santa Cruz with their dog. She has volunteered at many animal shelters throughout her journeys across Canada and the US. Leslie is currently in school working towards her Veterinary Technician Degree. She has her Small Animal Veterinary Assisting Certificate and is Fear Free Certified. In her spare time she enjoys mountain biking, road biking, hiking, going to the beach, spending time enjoying the outdoors with her dog and also training her dog.
Charnelle Chiang Veterinary Assistant
Char was born and raised in Santa Cruz. In the near future, she hopes to continue school to become a Registered Veterinary Technician. Char started working as a Veterinary Assistant in 2015, and has always loved animals. In her spare time, she enjoys playing sports and going to the beach with her dog Theo.
Taylor Baker Receptionist
Taylor was born and raised in Santa Cruz. She will be attending Foothill College in the fall in hopes of becoming a Registered Veterinary Technician. In her spare time, Taylor loves to spend time with her dog, Maggie, walking on the beach. Not to be left out, her new kitten, Gizmo, gets lots of cuddle time. Taylor also frequently visits her family living in Hawaii.. Aloha!
